Rosemary Derocher is a composer/arranger with 20+ years’ experience with piano, 15 with saxophone, and formal education in music theory, composition, and arrangement. Her professional approach, informed by work in a variety of settings and scopes, is committed to collaboration, inclusivity, and going the extra mile to help others.
Rosemary has written pieces for a variety of ensembles, including string orchestra, saxophone quartet, big band, marching band, and several mixed instrumentation groups; composed original, personalized wedding music; arranged for musical theater; and scored and written theme music for the indie audio dramas "Jim Robbie and the Wanderers" and "Misadventures by Death.” Her theme for "Misadventure by Death" won a 2017 Audioverse Award for Best Music for a New, Ongoing Dramatic Production. She has worked in a wide variety of styles, including but not limited to chamber music, jazz, folk, and pop arrangements. Rosemary was a member of Composers Collective, a New York-based non-profit for composers, from 2017-2023, and served as Secretary from 2020-2023.
Rosemary grew up in a few places, but for all intents and purposes she is from Albany, NY, and currently based in Queens, NY. Outside of composing she can be found reading, going too deep into theme park lore, and running back and forth under the Hell Gate Bridge.
